I am getting so excited! This morning, I am flying out of town for the weekend, going to visit my beloved friend Colleen, and a whole posse of friends that I haven't seen for a number of years! I can hardly wait! In fact, I have had butterflies for a number of weeks about it, ever since Colleen offered to purchase my airline ticket with some points that she has accrued. That's right - my friend is flying me to visit her! How lucky am I?
If you have been following my blog, you will remember that Colleen is a friend from way back in the day (I can't believe I just wrote that - it is SO not a phrase that I use on a regular basis!) who comes into town every couple of months for business. When she is in town, we get together for dinner, giggles and to raise a glass to gorgeous Renee! Now, I am going to spend the weekend with her talking, laughing, eating, beaching and reading. I am over the top excited.
Colleen is such a supportive friend! She is extremely thoughtful and caring, and one of the most positive people that I know. Her voice has a constant "smile" in it, as do her emails. Whenever I was at a low point in my treatment, Colleen seemed to intuitively know about it, and she would send me a quick email to let me know that she was thinking about me and wishing me a quick recovery. I value her friendship so much, and I am truly looking forward to chllin' with her for a few days.
I will also be reconnecting with a group of people that I worked with many years ago. I once wrote about these people and one of the special children who came to us for assessment, in a blog entitled Baby Needs New Shoes. This group formed one of the best work teams I have ever had the good fortune to be a part of. We worked hard, and we played pretty hard as well. We faced countless challenges, but we faced them together. We were a solid unit, and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of that experience.
I will fill you all in when I am back - or possibly I will fire off a quick post while I am there - and I will take a ton o' pictures so that you can enjoy my mini-vacation with me.
Looking forward to seeing your Shoot-Out pictures!
